Spotify: the lyrics button (the microphone icon) — it keeps highlighting and scrolling the words, exactly as always. YouTube Music: the lyrics tab.

The chords show up above the words. First play of a song takes a few seconds to match; after that it's instant.

Hover any chord for a fretboard diagram — the voicing the sheet intends, not a generic shape. Capo and transposition are reflected in the diagram.

Transpose, capo, versions
Shift the key to where you like to sing, set a capo, or switch to a different chord-sheet version when one fits the song better. Your choice is remembered per song.
Your player stays your player
Campfire draws on top of the lyrics panel you already know — in Spotify and in YouTube Music. Playback, scrolling, and highlighting are untouched — close the panel and it's like we were never there.

In your browser
For open.spotify.com and music.youtube.com on Chrome, Edge, or Brave — one install covers both. It also covers the YouTube Music desktop app: that app is Chrome (installed from the browser), so the extension works inside it as-is. One click from the Chrome Web Store — updates arrive automatically.

- Make sure the official Spotify desktop app is installed (click "Download directly from Spotify", not the "Download from the Microsoft Store" button).

What do I need?
- Spotify: an account with lyrics available — in most countries that means Premium.
- YouTube Music: any Google account — lyrics don't need a paid plan.
- In the browser: Chrome, Edge, or Brave at open.spotify.com or music.youtube.com.
- On desktop: the Windows Spotify app (click "Download directly from Spotify"), or the YouTube Music app installed from Chrome.
How does YouTube Music support differ from Spotify?
YouTube Music's lyrics are a static page (no moving highlight), so the chords sit over the full lyric sheet and you scroll as you play. On Spotify the lyrics — and the chords — follow the song. Everything else works the same on both.
Does every song have chords?
Most well-known songs do — coverage is strongest for popular English, 中文, and 日本語 songs — but not every song has a usable chord sheet, so no overlay can promise every track. Instrumentals and songs without Spotify lyrics can't show chords at all (Campfire lives in the lyrics panel).
How does the Spotify desktop version work?
The installer sets up Spicetify, a well-known free tool for customizing the Spotify desktop app, and adds Campfire to it. After Spotify updates itself, run the install command again — it doubles as the updater.
Chords don't appear in my Spotify desktop app — why?
The most common cause: the Microsoft Store version of Spotify, which can't be customized. Install Spotify from spotify.com/download instead — click "Download directly from Spotify", not "Download from the Microsoft Store" — then run the install command again. And whenever Spotify updates itself, re-run the install command — it puts Campfire back.
Does it work in Firefox?
Not yet. Chrome, Edge, and Brave come first — all three install from the same Chrome Web Store listing. Firefox has its own add-on store, so it ships separately later.
What data does Campfire process?
The title and artist of the song you're playing (to find its chords), and the lyric lines on your screen — processed transiently to position the chords, never stored. No analytics, no ads, no selling data. Details in the privacy policy.
