Campfire Chords is built to process as little as possible. This page lists everything the product touches, in plain language. If anything here changes, the date above changes with it.
What we process, and why
- Song lookups. When you play a song with the lyrics panel open, the extension sends the song's title, artist, and duration to our server to find matching chords.
- On-screen lyric lines. To place each chord over the right word, the extension sends the lyric lines currently rendered on your screen. They are used transiently to compute chord positions and are never stored or logged.
- A per-install key. On first use, each install receives a random key. It identifies the install (not you) and is used to count daily lookups. We store the key, its plan tier, and a per-day lookup count — nothing else is attached to it.
- Render-quality counters. After chords render, the extension reports the song's identity and a few numbers (how many lyric lines got chords) so we can find and fix songs with bad chord placement. Numbers only — never lyric text — folded into per-song daily counters, not kept as a listening history.
What we don't do
- No analytics or tracking scripts, in the extension or on this site.
- No advertising, no data sales, no third-party data sharing beyond the payment provider below.
- No account, email, or personal information is required to use the free product.
If you buy a subscription
Payments are handled by a payment provider acting as merchant of record. They collect your email and payment details under their own privacy policy; we receive and store your email, subscription status, and a license reference so your plan works — never your payment details.
Where data lives
Our server runs in Tokyo, Japan, with encrypted backups. Chord data for songs is cached server-side so lookups are fast for everyone; that cache contains songs, not people.
Your choices
Uninstalling the extension removes its local data. To have an install key or purchase record deleted, email [email protected] — include the key or purchase email so we can find it.
